After spending the previous 24-years in financial advice roles, 7 of these on national advisory boards, Brent recognized the need for a professional, independent, evidence-based and client-focused approach to financial planning and founded Central Financial Planning 2017.
Central to this is helping our clients sleep well at night by providing advice, guidance and meticulous planning to enable them to make confident, wise and informed financial and lifestyle decisions.

Meet the Team
Financial Planner / Director
Brent Wilson
Brent began his life as a financial adviser in 1992 while working in the banking sector. He is a foundation member of Financial Advice New Zealand and spent 7 years on various national financial advisory boards.
With extensive experience and expertise in financial planning, Brent has helped numerous clients fulfil their ideal financial and lifestyle ambitions. Brent’s young daughter once summed this up in a school project - “My Dad helps people”. -A very humbling and insightful comment that Brent lives by.
Deeply committed to the community, Brent first served on the Central Otago Chamber board for 4 years in the early 2000s and then Business South, Central Otago Advisory Board for 7 years up until 2023, and also spent 4 years as treasurer for the Alexandra Golf Club up until 2022.
Brent has also spent 5 years as an executive member of the NZ Four Wheel Drive Association and 12 years as chairman and financial controller of the Area Committee for St John up until 2012.
He continues his 18 years and counting role as regional counsellor and executive adviser for the NZ Tournament Water Ski Association, board member for Clyde Coastguard, trustee for the Alexandra Blossom Festival and has been the treasurer for the Central Otago Flying Club since 2018.
Brent’s diverse interests and active involvement in various organizations highlight his passion for making a positive impact in his community.
Outside of work, Brent is a competitive slalom water-skier, representing the Southern region and is a regular national’s finalist and plays the odd game of golf while continues to help out in the local community, enjoying Central Otago with his wife Gaye and their 5 adult children, Ashley, Hannah, Kylie, John and Ben when they return “home to Central”.

Financial Planner
Scott Sinclair
Scott joined Central Financial Planning in April 2022, bringing over 40 years of extensive experience in finance and banking. His expertise spans governance, financial management, and client-focused planning, making him a key asset as a Client Manager and Financial Planner.
Scott takes an integrated and thoughtful approach to guiding clients through their financial plans and future aspirations. Deeply committed to doing what’s right for each client, he listens attentively, gathers all relevant information, and provides tailored advice that empowers clients to make confident, informed decisions about their financial and lifestyle goals.
Throughout his distinguished career, Scott has held various project management and managerial roles across New Zealand, including over a decade in leadership positions within the banking sector in Central Otago.
His extensive governance experience includes serving as Chair of Huddl, Trustee of the Cromwell & Districts Community Trust, and former Chair of the Otago Chamber of Commerce Advisory Committee.
Beyond his professional achievements, Scott enjoys spending his free time golfing, traveling, and hiking the beautiful landscapes of Central Otago with his wife, Julie

Dewald de Beer
Dewald brings over 26 years of diverse experience across a wide range of industries, with half of his career spent in middle and senior leadership roles. Over the past five years, he has specialised in Fire, General, and Risk Insurance, working as both an advisor and shareholder at a respected regional firm. In June 2024, Dewald joined Central Financial Planning, expanding into Investments and adopting a comprehensive approach to meeting clients’ financial needs and goals.
At the heart of Dewald’s work is his dedication to people. He believes in the profound impact his advice can have on improving lives and helping clients achieve their aspirations. His client-centered focus, genuine care, and thoughtful approach enables him to deliver tailored financial solutions that align with each client’s unique circumstances.
Dewald’s career spans industries such as Media, Hospitality, Food and Beverage, Mining, and Real Estate, providing him with a broad and well-rounded perspective. His ability to adapt and thrive across sectors adds significant value, where he combines his diverse expertise with a passion for making a meaningful difference.
Since relocating to Central Otago in 2017 with his family, Dewald has made Alexandra his home. He is deeply involved in the community, serving as Chair of both the Alexandra Youth Trust and Business South Central Otago, as well as Vice President of the Alexandra District Club Bowls. He also runs a monthly business breakfast group and mentors businesses through BusinessNZ, reflecting his commitment to fostering growth and success in his local community.
Outside of work, Dewald enjoys an active lifestyle, including cycling, golfing, and hiking with his wife, Yolandie. A skilled lawn bowler, he represents Central Otago in competitions and finds joy in playing music. Dewald and Yolandie are proud parents to two young adult daughters, Deandie and Marzelle.

Gaye Anderson
Gaye plays a vital role and is the backbone of our client administration and adviser support. Gaye's attention to detail ensure that client transactions and requests are handled efficiently and communicated clearly.
As an integral part of our team, Gaye embodies the reliability and professionalism that form the foundation of our client-focused approach.
With a degree in psychology and a career rooted in her passion for organization and learning, Gaye spent many years as a librarian before transitioning to her current role.
Since moving to Alexandra in 2010, she has become a valued member of the community. A mother of three adult children, Gaye balances her professional dedication with a love for literature, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
